About & Colophon
me
I’m an entrepreneur and programmer in Des Moines, Iowa working on an online gaming startup and other projects.
I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Music1 in 2009. Now I work on my startup full-time.
When I tire of staring at a computer screen, I enjoy running, playing jazz piano, photography, and Super Smash Brothers.
This site is static HTML, built by a friendly Python script that transforms my markdown-formatted text files into the pages you see here. I used to use Wordpress, but I really like this static generation approach.

I have been alive for . (Yeah, that’s accurate.)25 things about me (from a 2009 meme):
- I hold many values in high regard: Integrity. Respect. Sincerity. Morality. (see Benjamin Franklin for more). I’m not perfect by any means, but I always try to improve.
- I hope my future wife, and our children, grow to appreciate those ideals as much as I do. There’s something to be said for strength of character in life’s relationships. This seems to be lost upon society today.
- I believe in God, but know that church is a man-made manifestation of our beliefs. The “church” isn’t an infallible source of truth.
- I intend to make millions through perseverance. What I’ll do with that type of money remains unknown, but only with solid backing can an individual create positive tides of change in this world. Not to underplay the benefit of being able to buy stuff, of course.
- Failing grand financial success, I intend to find a career I enjoy in technology. At least I’ll have a double-major as a backup plan.
- I believe that technology will progress so rapidly in our lifetimes that we may well attain the capability to live forever.
- I enjoy photography, good design, and attention to detail, but not to a fault.
- When I was young, I couldn’t reach the pedals on a piano. That complicated the process.
- I’ve never been a big fan of classical music. Having learned Music History, classical music remains acceptable but hardly exciting or enjoyable.
- I strive for perfection and don’t have a lot of patience. So I only strive to be perfect until I become impatient with myself. Then it’s good enough.
- I tried to build a remote-control model airplane when I was younger, but lost interest before I ever got one off the ground.
- People with good insight: Bob Meunier, Eric Saylor, Brandon Borseth, David Allen. Also notable: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Barack Obama.
- I can be blunt, impatient, and sarcastic to a fault.
- My parents and grandparents are great allies. In retrospect, I should have whined less as a kid. (But at the time, the things I whined about seemed important.) They won’t be around forever; I hope that I can appreciate them well enough while I still have the fortune of their presence.
- I’d be happy with Paul Schaeffer’s job.
- I try to inject as much witty banter into life as I can muster.
